He who respects others receives a crown of honour for their uprightness. In a generation dishonour goes unpunished, the Lord unravels the depths of what honour does (to us and those we honour) and curses upon a dishonourable person.
Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honour to whom honour. Romans 13:1-2, 7 (NKJV).
